Following a promising rookie season on the Formula One circuit, Paul di Resta seeks to make an even greater impact in his second season as an F1 driver. Competing in F1 racing once again serves as a vindication to di Resta who had to endure a long wait before receiving enough financial backing to make the jump.
The 25-year-old UK resident first burst onto the scene when he won the 2006 F3 Euroseries. It was just his second season of F3 racing and di Resta improved from 10th place to first in the span of a year after joining forces with Lewis Hamilton‘s team. An imminent jump to the F1 ranks appeared to be in the cards for di Resta, but his career took a detour. Mercedes recruited di Resta as a DTM driver in 2007. He stayed there for four seasons and won the DTM championship in 2010.
Force India offered di Resta a seat on its F1 team and he jumped to the series full time in 2011. It turned out to be a fruitful year for di Resta. He garnered eight top 10 finishes and 27 points in 19 starts and placed as high as sixth in Singapore. This season he will be racing alongside a strong teammate in Adrian Sutil.
Odds are good an even better year is in store for di Resta in 2013. He is a quick driver and a strong finisher. In the last three seasons, di Resta has retired from only four races.
