Romain Grosjean had some strong practice sessions in Barcelona and has now qualified in the 3rd spot for the Australian Grand Prix. He looks to be the real deal and we’ll see if he can turn this into an impressive F1 rookie season.
Romain Grosjean is the champion of the Formula 1 feeder 2011 GP2 Series Romain Grosjean. Joining him on Team Lotus is 2007 F1 World Champion Kimi Räikkönen. His first race ever was the European Grand Prix in 2009 in which 2009 was his first taste of Formula 1 racing. He struggled to be consistent but for a young driver in his first season it can be intimidating.
Grosjean has a passion for driving and he spent the 2011 season in the GP2 Series and Asia series where he dominated and captured both titles. This has earned him a contract with Team Lotus Renault and he couldn’t have asked for a better teammate than former champion Kimi Raikkonen.
What can people expect from Romain in his first ‘real’ year of Formula 1 racing? I think the team is expecting good things from him in his performance in 2011 and his previous F1 experience. He’ll want to finish in the top 10 by the end of the year in points and try to get some podium finishes.
