Sergio Perez

Sergio Perez had an impressive 2012 season which lead to team McLaren signing the young driver to replace the spot left behind by Lewis Hamilton. Sergio now has one of the best teams and cars in F1 racing and more is expected of him as reflected in the odds. He showed streaks of brilliance last year with team Sauber and maybe with a faster car and a better team he can perform to his potential.

Born in Guadalajara, Mexico on January 26, 1990, team Sauber driver, Sergio Perez believes that he’ll have a successful year in 2012. With a few technical difficulties with his car in the pre-season testing in Barcelona last week, Perez thinks that his team will iron them out and he’ll have a good race to look forward to. Twenty-two year old Sergio Perez has quite an impressive past. He won 5 championships in karting, then in 2004 won the U.S. Skip Barber National Championship. After taking 7th place in the Midwestern series he finished out the season in 11th place. He is also known as Checo Perez.

Despite the loss of technical director James Key the team has pulled together and is working to get Perez’s C31 Ferrari in tip top shape. Perez thinks that with 19 races and plenty of training under his belt last year he has a lot more experience and should have a successful year this year. Peter Sauber says he’s happy with Perez’s performance even with the unfortunate accident he had in Monaco. Perez feels the same way. He’s positive and upbeat and looking forward to the year ahead.

Although there hasn’t been a Mexican driver in the Formula One in quite some time, Perez is finding that his birth country is standing behind him 100%. With their support and the support of his team he feels good about the coming year. He is the 5th Mexican driver to make it in the Formula One. He finished runner up to driver Pastor Maldonado years ago after a not so good experience in the GP2 campaign but continues to be inspired and motivated that 2013 will be much better than last year.
