Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2019

The Chinese Grand Prix was a complete success for Mercedes drivers. Lewis Hamilton ended in the first place followed by his colleague Bottas. It seems that both Ferrari and Red Bull had high hopes for this race, but their drivers didn’t manage to figure out the winning strategy. But, nothing is lost yet and there are still many races ahead of us this year.

Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2019

Next, on the list, we have the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. This is one of the newest Formula One motor races. The first one was organized for the first time in 2017. This April 28, we will have a chance to witness the third race on this track.

When it comes to the track itself, it’s worth mentioning that the races are held at the Baku City Circuit, a motor racing street circuit that takes place in the capital city of Azerbaijan. This track hosted the 2016 European Grand Prix. On this race, it was Nico Rosberg from Mercedes that ended up in the first place followed by Sebastian Vettel from Ferrari. Sergio Perez of Force India-Mercedes was in the third place.

The situation was completely different in 2017 when Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull Racing-TAG Heuer won the race. The second place was reversed for Valtteri Bottas and Lance Stroll won the third place. It’s interesting that Vettel ended in the 4th place while Hamilton was fifth. It seems that Hamilton learned the lesson and in 2018, he won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix leaving Raikkonen from Ferrari in the second place and Perez in the third place. Vettel ended in fourth place. What’s interesting is that the Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas holds the record when it comes to the fastest lap on this circuit.

Who will win the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in 2019?

At this moment, Hamilton is the most successful driver this season with 68 points. But, this situation can change if Bottas wins the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in 2019. According to many experts, this race will have a serious impact on this year’s race to the title.

Even though Hamilton won last year’s race here, his Finnish teammate would have probably ended in the first place if it wasn’t for the tire accident (blown out tire). Even Hamilton himself admitted that Bottas should’ve won this race. So, we can say that the motivation in Bottas is higher, but so is the pressure because he must do well on this race to stay on top.

If we take a closer look at the odds, we will notice that the bookies share the same thoughts. Lewis Hamilton odds of winning are similar to the ones offered for Bottas, but since this race is important for Ferrari team too, their drivers have good odds of winning too. Placing a bet on Hamilton is always a smart idea, but the odds are around 7/4 which makes betting on Bottas (7/2) a good option too. Vettel at 23/10 and Leclerc from Ferrari at 3 look like value bets too.
