2012 United States Grand Prix is finally coming back to America.

The Formula One race is to take place on November 18th, 2012, in Austin, Texas. Formula One is the most respected form of racing worldwide. The cars are single seated with the engine located behind the driver. They have 2.4 liter engines and can reach speeds of over 200 miles per hour.

Formula One racing can be traced back to before the 1900s. Discussions about holding a driver’s championship took place in the late 1930s. They never transpired due to the beginning World War Two. In 1946, the races started again and in 1950 Formula One became official.

Organizers in Austin are working feverishly on the Circuit of the Americas to be ready for the 2012 race. The 3.4 mile long track has 20 turns. There is an elevation change of 133 feet. The facility sits on a 1,000 acre site and has the capacity to hold 120,000 people.

Circuit of the Americas will be a prestigious world-class center. It will have a 5,500 square foot medical and trauma center, a 40,000 square foot conference center and space for live entertainment. There are areas for law enforcement vehicle training. Fire and rescue will also have training areas. It will be an attraction for racing, business, and education.

Upon completion, it will be the first Formula One Grand Prix facility of its kind in the United States. Its design caters to all classes of racing. The Formula One United States Grand Prix runs from 2012 to 2021. It will also hold the MotoGP from 2013 through 2022. Circuit of the Americas is now the United States’ new home for the World Championships!
