McLaren Racing is back in 2012 with the same drivers in a much improved car ready to challenge the rest of the Formula One field for race wins and the Constructors Championship. Last year former Driver’s champions Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton each garnered three wins and numerous podiums to help the team finish runner-up in the Constructor’s Championship.
In 2012 they intend to win both the Driver’s and Constructor’s titles. The MP4-27 is taking everything that made it a such a competitive car at the end of 2011 and making it better with innovations the technicians at Woking UK have been working on during the off-season. The nose is flat and gracefully curved toward the ground resulting in a much lower front end on the chassis. The side-pods have been redesigned to give the waist of the car a more streamlined and compact impression resulting in better airflow.
The team at McLaren are aware that having a great car and top tier drivers is only the beginning. There is an entire season of races to be run and the competition is sure to be stiff this year. Red Bull are returning to defend their Constructor’s championship and Vettel will be putting forth his best effort to capture his third straight Driver’s title. Mercedes also made big strides at the end of 2012 and will be be charging forward with an improved car.
Both drivers are excited about the new ride. In interviews they have commented on how beautiful the car is in comparison to other entries. They have also noted that the data the engineers have presented them demonstrate that the MP4-27 will be a very fast car. When the season gets under way in Melbourne, team McLaren will be ready.
