Lewis Hamilton dominated the race at the Hungarian Grand Prix and scores his first grand prix win for his new Team Mercedes.

Team Mercedes are now a threat with Lewis Hamilton scoring his first win for his new team. That represents 3 GP wins for Mercedes this season and it is an impressive turnaround from the team in the past few years and likewise, the opposite has happened for team McLaren.

Finishing out the race is Kimi Raikkonen in 2nd place and Sebastian Vettel in 3rd. This gives Hamilton and Raikkonen more points over Vettel to narrow the gap he has built early on in the season.

Other drivers scoring some valuable points include Mark Webber, Fernando Alonso and an excellent race from Romain Grosjean.  Overall the teams adding up some valuable points in the constructors’ championship are Mercedes, RedBull Racing and Lotus.

For Lewis Hamilton specifically it is a huge points boost at the expense of Sebastian Vettel. The race was competitive from start to finish. Some of the car failures in the race included Adrian Sutil and Nico Rosberg where Nico was set to get points but ended up with an engine failure. This allowed Pastor Maldonado to score the first points for team Williams for the season.

If Vettel had won the race, it would have been maybe lights out on the whole season as he had a big lead on Alonso, Raikkonen, Hamilton, Rosberg and Webber. However that didn’t happen but with Vettel getting 3rd place, it shows the RedBull Racing team will be tough to beat out for another set of titles.
